About Me
Hi y'all! I was a rider in college and afterwards, until a couple of years before my son was born. The year he graduated high school I bought my present bike and joined ABATE District 1. I have been a member 4 years and this year was elected President of D-1. I do a variety of rides, including monthly rides with my church riders group...Holy Rollers. We call ourselves Rollers. I enjoyed the Saturday breakfast, the purpose of this group, and joined. I am member 131. My wife does not ride but sometimes my son does ride with me. He wants his own bike but presently is in college without enough to buy himself one. I remember that situation well!
Anyway, it took me about 2 years to get my cruiser set up and comfortable for long riding, but it is now done. I really enjoyed the ride with the AFRA on Saturday, and hope to do some more! I am also interested in old Hondas, and just bought a rebuilt CT90 1969 trail bike...the more fun the merrier! I had a 74 CT110 while in college and never did wear that thing out.
I am a state worker, geologist by trade, and often get out and about in our state. I have been known to frequent antique, pawn, and junk shops in my spare time too! HA HA
I hope to see everyone again soon! Post a CommentOops! The words you entered did not match the given text. Please try again. 3 Comments
Well, time passes quickly. 2012 is nearly over. This year was memorable for several reasons...in May I was diagnosed with cancer, and after a summer of chemo treatments, in October I was diagnosed as cured! Praise be to the Lord! And with less than 1 year until retirement.
Now I have found myself reelected as President of ABATE D-1 again in 2013, and have disposed of my old ACE and bought a new-to-me 2008 Goldwing GL1800. But one thing remains the same....my same rubber chicken rides with me, but with more style and grace than it AND I am used to! HA HA I am looking forward to some good weather in 2013 for riding and when it permits I will be at the Saturday breakfasts with my other Roller buddies! Best of luck to all in AFRA in 2013...may your roads be dry and clear, and may you enjoy any encounters with the "twisties"!! Be safe, Brothers and Sisters!
Richard, with the start of 2011 I have just 3.5 years left to go until retirement. When that event happens I will be trading my Honda cruiser in on a Honda Goldwing Trike and making some long cross country rides. If that might fit into your time frame sometime, you will always be welcome to ride along!
Mike we appreciate you joining our cause. Also truely appreciated what ya'll did at the state meeting Sunday. Awesome!! Thanx for believing in what we are doing. God bless you and if ever you go on a long distance ride, let me know. I love em'! Richard
